07 | Potentiometer

Potentiometers vary in resistance as the rotar is turned and are commonly used in things like volume knobs and light dimmers. In this tutorial we'll learn how to read an analog voltage drop across a potentiometer.

Procedure




  • Open the LINX - Analog Read 1 Channel example from the LabVIEW Example Finder.

  • Select the AI channel 13 which is connected to the onboard potentiometer.

  • Run the VI, and rotate the potentiometer.

  • Modify the VI to display the potentiometer value on a gauge.
Challenges
  • Use the potentiometer to control the rate at which an LED blinks.
  • Use the potentiomter to set the amount a counter increases each time a button is pressed.
