I'm a new LabVIEW user, and I'm trying to control the speed of a stepper motor using labVIEW and myRIO. The project I am working on is as follows: Using Vision to track an object on a 2-D plane, I want to control the NEMA-17 stepper motor to drive a paddle that will intercept the object being tracked by vision.
I'm very inexperienced with motors, and I don't fully understand how the motor can be controlled by LabVIEW/myRIO. Here is what I do understand: Stepper motors need to be fed a pulse, such as a sine wave, instead of a constant voltage. Each pulse advances the motor to the next step. I don't know how to generate this, or what amplitude/frequency it needs to be at. Can someone help me understand what kind of signal needs to be sent to the motor, and how I can generate the signal?
